When sewer camera inspection reveals that Point Loma's aging cast iron or clay sewer laterals have cracks, root intrusion, joint separations, or moderate corrosion, trenchless repair offers a modern alternative to traditional excavation. Instead of digging a trench the full length of the damaged pipe — destroying driveways, walkways, landscaping, and potentially requiring street permits — trenchless methods restore the pipe from the inside using small access points at each end.Homewerx offers two primary trenchless approaches. Cured-in-place pipe lining (CIPP) inserts a resin-saturated liner into the existing pipe, inflates it against the pipe walls, and cures it in place to form a seamless, corrosion-resistant new pipe within the old one. This method works well for pipes with cracks, joint separations, and moderate root intrusion where the host pipe is still structurally stable. Pipe bursting is used for more severely damaged pipes — a bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, fracturing it outward while simultaneously pulling a new HDPE pipe into place.
